    Summertime Racing: One day at a time

    If there is one thing I've learned after the last 17 years of competing in endurance sports it is that life is so unpredictable and you just never know what is going to happen next. Just the same as when you are racing, plans for the season are great and all, but you need to be able to adapt to various conditions and circumstances and just roll with it sometimes.     Race number two is in the books at 70.3 Victoria. As most races some ups and downs but lots of positives to take from it and lots of things to improve on for the next time out. So first off the swim. Started out and boy did it start fast. I was almost immediately into the red, swimming the first 50 in 30s flat which is a pb by about 3 seconds and through the opening 100 in 1:05 which is also a pb by about 6 seconds -yes I’m not a sprinter in the pool maxing at about a 1:11 10

    So here we are 70.3 #2 of the year already. Though Marbella really doesn’t feel like that long ago there has been some real solid training since then. For the most part it has been significantly run focused peaking out over 100km last week and been averaging 3 speedier type run workouts per week. Even though 100km isn’t by any means an absurd amount of weekly volume that volume has had a lot of quality work in it. In fact, last week for 102km of running the overall averaging
